I do live in eastern PA so maybe its just the location. I did have this same unit before with my Jeep Liberty and it didn't work at all. I have a Toyota Matrix now.

(More customer reviews)I'm thankful I bought this product at Costco, because I could take it back for a full refund. The idea is appealing, and a good deal - you get a lot for a good price. But on closer inspection, there are a couple of significant problems:
1. The contents are redundant.
- Cassette adapter gives better sound than FM transmitter in many cases. If you have a car with a cassette player, you wouldn't need the FM transmitter. If your car doesn't have a cassette player, why would you buy a package with a cassette adapter in it?
- Similarly, at home, you'd get better sound on your stereo by using the cables vs the FM transmitter, even if you do have a tuner.
So unless you plan on using your ipod in a car with a cassette player, a car without a cassette player, and with your home stereo system, having cables, a cassette adapter and the FM transmitter is redundant. You may come out cheaper by buying the components you need separately.
2. The case is TERRIBLE! Honestly, if the case had been good, I would've overlooked the redundancy and likely kept the entire package. But the case was a key component for me. The case in this package covers the iPod on the front, back, sides, and bottom. Since the belt clip swivels, to prevent the iPod from falling out of the top, the case has a suction cup (no joke!) on the inside of the back panel. The case opens up in a flip-down style by un-velcro-ing the side panels. You nest your iPod into the case, sticking it to the suction cup, flip the front of the case into postion, and stick the side velcro strips together. Between the case itself, the suction cup, and the bulky belt clip, the iPod is more than twice as thick in the case as it is alone. It's also significantly wider.
My advice - keep shopping.

I couldn't find this specific one in the stores, so I ended up spendng over $80.00 to buy what I thought was a GOOD Griffin FM transmitter doc. It was terrible!!! I found the same one he had borrowed on Amazon and it was a fraction of the price so I got 2 (one for each car) for 1/3 of what it cost me for the Griffin one. With any FM transmitter doc you will get some static at times and this one is no exception (I've tried many). This particular one works as good, if not better than the expensive ones. It's sturdy - I've found that those with the bendable plugs aren't very sturdy when pluggin in an Iphone/IPod Touch which tend to be heavy. It's easy to use and set up - take it out of the package, set your radio, plug it in and away you go! The only thing I would have liked is to be able to get it in black or another color. White is just not a dirt friendly color! :)

In addition, it only supports a bare bones iPhone with no case as the holder is fixed and can not be adjusted. So, if you have a protective cover over your iPhone, forget about this product. I contacted Justpal and after going back and forth, they agreed that I will return the product for a full refund. I sent the product back and since then, they disappeared. They do not return emails and after weeks and weeks, did not yet refund me. Don't buy from them!!!

It's as if I am off one number on the station I'm transmitting through and the music can barely be heard over the static. Also the range is awful. If it's not within 6 inches of the stereo, the static starts. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

(More customer reviews)After much research, I discovered that our Navigator was unable to accept a direct line-in adapter for an ipod/iphone due to the rear navigation system using the "spare" input on the receiver. I was resigned to not having an ipod input in this car, but kept on searching. Am I ever happy I did.
After finding and researching this product, I decided, with some trepidation, to order the "pro-install" version. the trepidation came from the fact that I have previously tried FM transmitters to play portable devices through the car stereo, and have never had satisfactory results with regard to sound quality. I decided to give this system a chance, since it is directly wired into the antenna and not just transmitting through the air on an FM frequency (at least with the pro-install option). And by the way, don't let the name "pro-install" fool you. This is a DIY kit for anyone who is comfortable taking our your car stereo to get to the back and finding the right power wires to connect to. If you are not scared of those things, then you wan install this in under an hour.
I won't go into the boring details of the install, but i will say it was a piece of cake. The toughest part was deciding where to route the dock connector cable. I decided to route it to the center console. One installed I turned on the stereo, plugged in the iphone, and tuned to the FM frequency I had selected (you can select which frequency you want to use based on which FM frequencies are not used in your area). Voila! Crystal clear sound. Nothing at all like the FM transmitters I have used in the past. I also really like the RDS feature. It displays the artist, song, and album or playlist title on your stereo. the only thing this product doesn't do is allow you to control your ipod through your stereo controls. You use the ipod itself to control the music. No big deal for me. In fact, I think it's easier that way.
I heartily recommend this product to anyone looking for an easy solution to playing an ipod thorough your car stereo.

(More customer reviews)I got this transmitter with remote for my new iPhone 3G because I thought it would simplify things in the car and allow me to shuffle thru iTunes with the remote instead of on the phone itself. Something that can hold the phone, charge it, transmit to the radio and is remote controlled- sounds great right? In reality, it did not turn out to be so wonderful.
The adjustable sides of the holder do not lock in place, and thus, it does not hold your phone securely. In addition, the charger is very awkwardly positioned so that it blocks your cup holders if you have a dash version. The converter would not stay in the charger around corners or over bumps, making things even less secure for your expensive phone. The remote control appeared in the pictures to be able to shuffle through your iTunes. This turned out to be a sticker- not actual controls. You are able to change the radio station for transmission and mute the sound with the remote control, as well as turn the power of the transmitter off and on- but if you are looking for it to be able to actually do what it looks like it should do (ie: shuffle thru your music) you will be sadly disappointed. The remote looks and feels like it came out of a cracker jack box. In addition, if you are not pointing the remote in a very specific direction, very close to the transmitter, it does not work at all.
The only positive thing I can say for this product is that the FM transmitter does transmit fairly decently. It may work for someone who has a iPod nano, but it is not secure for a iPhone or anything larger than a nano. Save your money and get something else. I wound up getting a separate dash/windshield universal mount and a small fm transmitter that has a USB port for your USB charger and will work with any device that has a headphone jack. Works much better. My phone is now up where I can see it if I need to use my GPS and place it on speaker phone if I have a call come in.

(More customer reviews)Got this product last week, and its been driving me crazy ever since. First off it does not hold an Iphone like it says it does, it just keeps slipping out. Then when I try to turn it on, nothing happens. Its suppose to show the FM numbers on the top, but it doesnt. I dont know if I'm doing anything wrong but this thing has become just a charger for me.
