(More customer reviews)Let me start by saying I broke this thing not 30 seconds after opening the box. Lesson learned - do not try to position the arm while the holding bracket is attached. Rather than send it back, I super-glued the holding bracket back on to the arm. The only disadvantage is that I cannot rotate it. Other than that, it has served its purpose with no issue. I like the pass-through as I have many devices that need charging and I can rotate them easily while still having my iPhone accessible. Many reviewers have had issue with the position of their outlet - works fine in the Nissan Maxima (just have to watch fingers when putting the car in park). Overall, I like my Bracketron cup holder mount better, but sometimes I need that second cup holder...

(More customer reviews)Wow, finally we have found something to work to dock the Ipod in the minivan. We had a Belkin dock for a couple years...the one that plugs into the A/C and has the arm that extends out and moves where you want it. We just always had so much trouble with it staying put. We have an Ipod Classic 160GB, and it is the heaviest model, and the dock would always slip because we could never get it to be tight enough in the A/C plug. It was SO FRUSTRATING! This product is great. It is not a power supply and it does not have an FM transmitter. We use a tape deck to play the Ipod through, so that we get the best sound, so we don't need the FM transmitter. And, we have an A/C plug for the Ipod so we just leave it plugged in while we drive so the Ipod doesn't run down the battery. ANYWAY, this Kensington "arm" dock is so great. It turns every which way so that you can mount it anywhere. We have a van that has a console that sticks out so we actually mounted it on the side of the console, so that the Ipod now sits right next to the radio and the cords can all reach. I really recommend this for anyone who does not need the FM transmitter or A/C connector dock. VERY STURDY, VERY EASY TO INSTALL, VERY FLEXIBLE FOR USE, GREAT DESIGN!!
June 2009 update:
We still love this but wanted to update and say that in the summer, the adhesive just doesn't stick so well...so about every time we get in the van we have to re-stick it. It doesn't ever fall when we are in the car, after we re-stick it and we have the AC going...but just when not in use. So at least it is not putting our Ipod in danger of falling. We still love it and would recommend it.

(More customer reviews)Wow. this thing is the worst product ever from Griffin. I own the original Windowseat and love it. It is very sturdy and rugged. The only problem with the original version is that it is not compatible with the iPhone 4. On Griffin's website, it says that they have no intention of creating an adaptor for the iPhone 4, so I had to bite the bullet and buy a new version that is compatible. I thought I was buying into the Griffin reputation and the original versions durability. Boy was I wrong. This thing is so flimsy that it wags side to side 2 whole inches if you use the included extension arm. On most cars, if you want to attach it to the windshield, you will need to use the extension arm. The ball socket actually broke on me while I was assembling it. All I have to say is that if you plan to buy it, set it and forget it. Because if you need to move it, it will break eventually. The box it came in is worth more than this joke of a product.
On the other hand, the ball joint is the exact same size as the original WindowSeat, so I have trashed the rest of it and will go back to the original mount and use the new appliance holder... until it breaks.
Come on Griffin!!! Make an adaptor or make something that works. This product is a joke! So I guess the joke is on me.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product wanting to use my phone as a GPS without laying it freely on the dashboard and letting it slide around. I also wanted to have the iPod controls right in front of me without having to pick the phone up and look off the road too much. I received this about a month ago and it works very well. I've had no issues with the suction cup falling off the windshield. If you don't want to mount the device to the windshield, or are prohibited by law to do so, it comes with a small adhesive disc for dashboard mounting. You can orient the phone in any way that you want, and the swivel the phone mounts to can be adjusted to any tightness of preference. The phone, as expected, does not shake when mounted inside the device. The only drawback is that you have to remove your case to place your phone inside, but my case is a two piece that easily slides on and off, so this is just a minor inconvenience to me. I figured this would be the case when I bought the product, but the units available on Amazon that allow cases looked like ugly, blocky pieces of garbage to me. Overall, for the money that I paid, I'm very satisfied with this windshield mount and recommend it to anyone who wants to use their iPhone as a GPS unit in their car.

I bought the product to find out that it only supports the iPhone 2G and 3G (not the 3Gs). In addition, it only supports a bare bones iPhone with no case as the holder is fixed and can not be adjusted. So, if you have a protective cover over your iPhone, forget about this product. I contacted Justpal and after going back and forth, they agreed that I will return the product for a full refund. I sent the product back and since then, they disappeared. They do not return emails and after weeks and weeks, did not yet refund me. Don't buy from them!!!

(More customer reviews)This product works exactly as advertised. In fact, based on what I had read in the other reviews I would actually say that it works better than advertised. The suction cup works so well that the only thing I can figure is that the person that had problems with it did not understand how it worked. It is not the standard type of suction cup where you simply press it against the windshield and hope it holds. This suction cup works by placing it against the windshield and then turning the knob counterclockwise in order to pull the center portion away from the windshield. As it does this it creates a vacuum seal that so tight that you are more likely to dislodge the windshield than you are to remove this device from it.
The iPhone fits perfectly into the holder and the aux cable is nice and thin. I actually used the phone in this setup when I wanted to have a conference call and the other person's voice coming out of the car stereo worked great for that purpose.
The only caveat I would list is that if your car has a long sloping windshield you may find the extension not quite long enough to bring the phone within reach. You may be able to compensate for this by mounting it up higher. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and it has a pretty vertical windshield so I don't have this problem.

(More customer reviews)A quick video that shows you the TuneFlex installed and how to put your phone into it. Also notice I did it all one handed, which means its pretty easy to put your phone in the thing. Though it made the video a little shaky.
I confess I haven't driven with it. The arm does seem pretty stiff, at least it was hard to move it around.
I did make a call on it and the other person said I sounded far away, but perfectly clear. So the mic works pretty well.
I say in the video you don't have any control. What I mean is there isn't a remote you can use to change things on the phone. I know another product I looked at had something you attach to your steering wheel. This doesn't have anything like that.

(More customer reviews)I wanted a windshield mount for the iPhone to use in my F-350 and do not need bluetooth or FM transmitter. I want to use it with a GPS app and also have the phone easily reachable for calls. All the generic holders I have looked at were ugly and too bulky looking. Plus, I want one that lets me keep my case on my iPhone 3gs while it is in the mount. The price looked good for the Kensington Amplified mount and it appeared to meet my needs. Overall, the Kensington mount is ok, but not great.
The good:
Easy to mount the iPhone in the holder, with or without a case on the phone
Phone seems very secure in the mount, not likely to fall out
Suction cup is strong, adheres to windshield very well
Sound amplification is pretty good when not using a case on the iPhone
Can easily position phone in portrait or landscape mode
Keeps iPhone at my fingertips while driving, easy to answer a call and use speakerphone
The bad:
Length of the flexible arm is a bit too long.
The phone bounces while driving making it hard to read GPS screens. This is due to the long flexible arm and probably made worse in my truck (F-350 4x4) due to the stiff suspension. May not be a problem in a car with a softer ride.
Sound is not amplified very well with a case on the iPhone because there is a bit of a gap left between the iPhone speaker and the rubber base on the mount. Kensington includes different rubber pieces to use with a bare iPhone and iPhone cases, but they do not get a good seal with a case on. I have tried 4 different cases, the Griffin Reveal had the least amplification of them all. The inCase slider and a silicone case had a better seal and therefore better amplification.
Only sound from the left speaker is channeled through the sound chamber. The part of the mount directly under the right speaker is just a hole with a piece of black foam padding.
Many car charger connectors are a bit too big to fit in the gap at the bottom of the mount for charging the iPhone while driving. The connector must be very small, like the connector on the USB cable that came from Apple with the iPhone. My aftermarket car charger does not fit.
The two main things that keeps this from being the perfect windshield mount is the bounciness of the phone while driving and lack of sound amplification when using a case, in particular the Griffin Reveal case, since that is my favorite case at the moment.

(More customer reviews)I bought this item in January of 2009. I thought it was the greatest holder I have ever seen because it rotates and mounts to my windshield. In the beginning I thought it was tough to take the iPhone out of the holder but eventually I did not mind until it broke.
In April of 2009, 3 months into using this holder the clip holding the iPhone broke then 2 days later the suction cup came off.
Besides it breaking it has a design flaw that started to annoy me from the beginning. The holder that attaches to the mount is upside down. Many times I would have the iPhone in the mount and put the headphone jack to my car in the top of the iPhone. When I did this the holder came off the mount. When I reverse the iPhone the jack is covered up and I can not play my music through the stero.
Pro:
People-oriented design: Adjustable neck (GooseNeck)
Flexible arm allows fine tuning of positioning
Con:
Bad design: when using the headphone jack the holder will come off the mount.
It broke 2 different ways in 3 months from purchase
You cannot use the camera when in the holder. I guess you could drill a hole but I never got to that.
The suction cup came off every week.
I have yet to find a better solution but I will continue to look.

If you want to have your lovely iPhone by your side at all time, you could: a) place it on the dashboard and hope it doesn't slide off b) modify the dashboard to safely hold the phone c) buy an iPhone Car Mount. iPhone Car MountSince it can be installed in a couple of seconds and doesn't endanger your phone, I'd say option c) is the best. The base attaches to the windshield with a suction cup and continues with a flexible gooseneck that allows easy repositioning of the phone to get a better view. When you're not driving, we hope. Another thing you absolutely shouldn't do while driving is watch videos. But when you're stationary you can just rotate the bracket to place the iPhone in landscape position.

It works great and has a USB port and a dual male connector cord so it is compatible with basically any mp3 player. Also, you can use any frequency which guarantees at least one will come through clear. On top of this, the case actually fits the new iPod (Note: The volume button is covered, but still able to be pressed since it is a silicone case). Overall this is a great product, and for the price it is a steal and can't be beat. I would recommend to anyone that is looking for an FM transmitter for their car.

(More customer reviews)Despite the great price of this product, I was quite disappointed when it broke within three uses. Two main problems...the iPod doesn't stay docked well and frequently falls out while going down the road. Secondly, the dongle that plugs into the bottom of the iPod came apart to where only the metal was exposed. This was a huge problem in that the small parts cannot be easily reassembled (if at all) and caused the dongle to get jammed into the iPod. Luckily, I was able to remove it and salvage my iPod from any permanent damage. There are two great points to this product, however. One being its clarity. When the proper channel was chosen, the songs came in rather clearly. The second is the remote. The remote worked great and was a nice addition. All in all, I would not recommend this product.

(More customer reviews)A few weeks ago I was looking for a mounting solution for my iPhone in my Dodge truck, and was intrigued by the description and reviews I saw of this one. A few days later, it arrived & I began experimenting with different ways to mount it. The more ways I tried, the more I realized how versatile of a mount this is. My mounting location of choice was the overhanging lip of the dashboard, above and to the right of the steering wheel. However, the dash is composed of sort of rippled, patterned plastic, and I seriously doubted that I could get any kind of suction cup mount to work.
Amazingly, the "Smart Pad" that comes with this mount solves this problem perfectly, although it is not very well described in the enclosed instructions. The Smart Pad is simply a tacky, very soft rubber-like disc, which is placed between a non-uniform mounting surface, and the suction cup mount. Somehow, by applying suction against it from the suction cup mount side, the soft surface against the non-uniform mounting surface conforms to that surface and maintains suction against it. Once I figured this out, I successfully managed to mount my iPhone just above and to the right of steering wheel. I set it up so that it was easily visible while driving, got good GPS reception through the windshield, and was easily touched from my right hand, even while holding on to the steering wheel.
But, how well would it hang on to the overhanging lip, and how long would it stay? The true test came right away: a drive from from Arizona to Alaska via the Alaska Highway - four days of normal road vibration, followed by about two days of rough roads with potholes, and frostheaves. The result: it didn't come off even once. I had to worry about mosquitoes, shifting trailer loads, and high gas prices. But never about my iPhone coming loose.
A couple of weeks later, it continues to hang on tightly. No longer do I have to fumble around with my iPhone to change songs, or try to wrestle it out from in between the seats, where it's slid into on a corner.
Overall, a convenient mounting option for the iPhone that is versatile, well-made, and easy to use.

(More customer reviews)Decent item, but the description says the charger works and has been tested with the iPhone 3G.
What it doesn't say is that it that you will get a message stating that it will only work in AIRPLANE MODE. Click "NO" to NOT go into AIRPLANE mode and it wil work fine anyway.
Also, you can skip connecting the charging piece and only connect the sound/headphone output to the FM transmitter -- it works fine as well.
