I do live in eastern PA so maybe its just the location. I did have this same unit before with my Jeep Liberty and it didn't work at all. I have a Toyota Matrix now.

(More customer reviews)I just bought an ipod and purchased this AVB adapter at the same time. It was an excellent choice. I'm in my car all day for work and it was great to start enjoying my ipod right away. I found that keeping the volume of my cassette deck a little lower and compensating with the volume on the ipod takes care of any hiss. It sounds great and it was $10 well spent.
Update: I just tried using this cassette adapter with my ipod and home stereo. It's great! I just popped the adapter in the cassette player (the cord sticks out through the door, but it does close) and it works! I'm so excited that I can use my ipod with my stereo that I'm going to buy another adapter. I had previously tried using a cable directly from my ipod to the stereo inputs of my receiver and that did not work well at all.

On a more positive note, it does hold the iPod in a convenient location, and does have a 'pass-thru' port that allows a charger to be connected. Ipod Navigator Review

(More customer reviews)My son's friend had one of the Ipod Navigator's which he was borrowing. I couldn't find this specific one in the stores, so I ended up spendng over $80.00 to buy what I thought was a GOOD Griffin FM transmitter doc. It was terrible!!! I found the same one he had borrowed on Amazon and it was a fraction of the price so I got 2 (one for each car) for 1/3 of what it cost me for the Griffin one. With any FM transmitter doc you will get some static at times and this one is no exception (I've tried many). This particular one works as good, if not better than the expensive ones. It's sturdy - I've found that those with the bendable plugs aren't very sturdy when pluggin in an Iphone/IPod Touch which tend to be heavy. It's easy to use and set up - take it out of the package, set your radio, plug it in and away you go! The only thing I would have liked is to be able to get it in black or another color. White is just not a dirt friendly color! :)

I finally gave up and turned on the radio. I have since returned it for a refund. I live in a somewhat rural area. Maybe it would work better in a city.

(More customer reviews)i thought i was going to be really happy with the quality of this transmitter but am far from it.. half the time it wont even transmit onto the radio and it only plays out of the right side speakers. as with most transmitters, there's a lot of static regardless of what station you're broadcasting on and with this one, you have to keep your hand on it the whole time in order to get clear signal. i would strongly advise against purchasing this item and maybe just spend the few extra bucks for a good quality transmitter.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this slightly skeptical and I should have gone with my instinct. This was a cheap piece of plastic that wasn't worth the wait or the few dollars I spent on it.
First of all -- the FM transmitter didn't do anything, except fuzz the few stations that it was trying to connect with. The hing on the adaptor was so loose that it kept falling forward, there was no way to tighten it because the "screw" was a piece of plastic that was so soft it stripped it.
Also the clamp that holds the ipod in was so loose that my Ipod kept falling out... I don't know how anyone could sell this.
Also -- found out this seller doesn't take returns, only exchanges.

Pros:
- Good sound quality
- Sleek and attractive looking
- Pretty easy to use
- It will override a station with a slight signal, such as my 87.9 FM which in NYC has some interference on it when the ipod is not playing.
Cons:
- Signal distance is very short. This thing tops out at a distance of like 1-2 feet max. I ended up putting it on top of my radio where it worked fine.
- My biggest beef is that it will not fit into my ipod with the case (Capdase silicone) still on. If it fit in with the case on, I would probably give it 4 stars.
