(More customer reviews)Wow, finally we have found something to work to dock the Ipod in the minivan. We had a Belkin dock for a couple years...the one that plugs into the A/C and has the arm that extends out and moves where you want it. We just always had so much trouble with it staying put. We have an Ipod Classic 160GB, and it is the heaviest model, and the dock would always slip because we could never get it to be tight enough in the A/C plug. It was SO FRUSTRATING! This product is great. It is not a power supply and it does not have an FM transmitter. We use a tape deck to play the Ipod through, so that we get the best sound, so we don't need the FM transmitter. And, we have an A/C plug for the Ipod so we just leave it plugged in while we drive so the Ipod doesn't run down the battery. ANYWAY, this Kensington "arm" dock is so great. It turns every which way so that you can mount it anywhere. We have a van that has a console that sticks out so we actually mounted it on the side of the console, so that the Ipod now sits right next to the radio and the cords can all reach. I really recommend this for anyone who does not need the FM transmitter or A/C connector dock. VERY STURDY, VERY EASY TO INSTALL, VERY FLEXIBLE FOR USE, GREAT DESIGN!!
June 2009 update:
We still love this but wanted to update and say that in the summer, the adhesive just doesn't stick so well...so about every time we get in the van we have to re-stick it. It doesn't ever fall when we are in the car, after we re-stick it and we have the AC going...but just when not in use. So at least it is not putting our Ipod in danger of falling. We still love it and would recommend it.

(More customer reviews)At first I loved this car vent holder. It attached to my vent and gave me easy access to my phone. After a few months, the product just seemed to breakdown. I find the holder that attaches to the vents really flimsy and if you don't have a gentle touch you might break your own vent. Also the part that holds the phone secure will eventually loosen and drop down. You will find yourself constantly adjusting the side holders just so that you can remove your phone. Overall, the idea of a car vent holder is a good idea, but the product is not the well-made.

(More customer reviews)This product works exactly as advertised. In fact, based on what I had read in the other reviews I would actually say that it works better than advertised. The suction cup works so well that the only thing I can figure is that the person that had problems with it did not understand how it worked. It is not the standard type of suction cup where you simply press it against the windshield and hope it holds. This suction cup works by placing it against the windshield and then turning the knob counterclockwise in order to pull the center portion away from the windshield. As it does this it creates a vacuum seal that so tight that you are more likely to dislodge the windshield than you are to remove this device from it.
The iPhone fits perfectly into the holder and the aux cable is nice and thin. I actually used the phone in this setup when I wanted to have a conference call and the other person's voice coming out of the car stereo worked great for that purpose.
The only caveat I would list is that if your car has a long sloping windshield you may find the extension not quite long enough to bring the phone within reach. You may be able to compensate for this by mounting it up higher. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and it has a pretty vertical windshield so I don't have this problem.

(More customer reviews)I bought this item in January of 2009. I thought it was the greatest holder I have ever seen because it rotates and mounts to my windshield. In the beginning I thought it was tough to take the iPhone out of the holder but eventually I did not mind until it broke.
In April of 2009, 3 months into using this holder the clip holding the iPhone broke then 2 days later the suction cup came off.
Besides it breaking it has a design flaw that started to annoy me from the beginning. The holder that attaches to the mount is upside down. Many times I would have the iPhone in the mount and put the headphone jack to my car in the top of the iPhone. When I did this the holder came off the mount. When I reverse the iPhone the jack is covered up and I can not play my music through the stero.
Pro:
People-oriented design: Adjustable neck (GooseNeck)
Flexible arm allows fine tuning of positioning
Con:
Bad design: when using the headphone jack the holder will come off the mount.
It broke 2 different ways in 3 months from purchase
You cannot use the camera when in the holder. I guess you could drill a hole but I never got to that.
The suction cup came off every week.
I have yet to find a better solution but I will continue to look.

If you want to have your lovely iPhone by your side at all time, you could: a) place it on the dashboard and hope it doesn't slide off b) modify the dashboard to safely hold the phone c) buy an iPhone Car Mount. iPhone Car MountSince it can be installed in a couple of seconds and doesn't endanger your phone, I'd say option c) is the best. The base attaches to the windshield with a suction cup and continues with a flexible gooseneck that allows easy repositioning of the phone to get a better view. When you're not driving, we hope. Another thing you absolutely shouldn't do while driving is watch videos. But when you're stationary you can just rotate the bracket to place the iPhone in landscape position.
