Jupiter Jack Review

(More customer reviews)I recently ordered the Jupiter Jack and was excited to use it because I am on the road all the time. It definitely does what it says it does just not very well. I live in DC and on just about every dial we have a radio station which is not good for the jupiter jack trying to steal the frequency. Both station it has you use are close to very powerful stations here so even though you are not on the same frequency they still come through. I am not here to say I am dissapointed in the product I just wish it was a little stronger. I am sure it would probably work in a more rural area where there are not as many stations but for DC it is not the best choice.

(More customer reviews)After weeks of reading independent reviews, discussing various bluetooth items with my friends and searching for just the right bluetooth car kit I decided on the Jabra SP710, Cruiser. I ordered it on Amazon from a company called ccmaccessories. Delivery was quick, directions for use were clear and I attached it to my visor and couldn't wait to use it.
The first problem occurred when my brother said he couldn't understand me, since he could only hear every 3rd word and that word echoed a few times in his ear. Thinking I was in a bad signal area, I pulled my car over to turn off the Jabra and use my cell phone (Oregon has a new law banning the use of cell phones, you have to use a hands-free device). I noticed the phone had full bars, signifying that I was in a good area for excellent cell coverage. I called my brother back and it was so clear he thought I had gotten home and was using a land line. It wasn't the signal at all it was the Jabra. I thought maybe it was a faulty speaker, so I contacted the company and awaited their reply.
Since the Jabra SP710 Cruiser allows you to go through an empty FM frequency on your car radio I decided to try that. I had better luck with that feature, for talking on my cell phone, but now I couldn't listen to regular FM radio stations, use a CD or my Satellite radio. I tried to make the best of it, downloading songs onto my Blackberry 8330, but more problems cropped up. The Jabra has a lot of features, buttons to skip to the next track, or jump back to hear a song again. The buttons didn't work. To top it all off, now the start and end call features didn't work either.
I was lucky CCMACCESSORIES responded to my request with instructions on how to return my Jabra. I was out the shipping charges (both ways) but my credit card would be credited.

Jabra SP700 Bluetooth Car Kit Speakerphone Review

The biggest challenge for me is learning not to shout!
I have gotten a few complaints of echo (i.e. caller hears bits of their own voice) when using the built-in speaker. Using the FM transmitter seems to eliminate this problem.
I wish Jabra would've used a standard mini-usb connector for charging and also provided an 1/8" hardwired output to plug into my car stereo aux port.
The FM transmitter is a great feature, but FM is frustratingly noisy in big metro areas.
I did discover a cool trick for getting better FM reception that other US users might be able to try (provided their radio supports different country settings):
My FM radio has a setting for USA and Europe, and the European setting includes both odd and even frequencies.
With the FM radio set to the European setting, tune in to an even frequency (like 89.2 MHz, for example) the SP700 tunes in 0.1MHz increments, so you can tune to match and nobody else is supposed to be using that frequency.
Works much better, and I'll have fun, fun, fun until the FCC takes my SP700 away ;^)

Pairing the SP700 with Your Phone
The first time you turn on the speakerphone it will automatically be in pairing mode. To enter pairing mode subsequently, turn off SP700 and press the Answer/End button for 5 seconds.

Motorola T215 Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone Review

(More customer reviews)This is the second unit which we bought for car #2 after being pleased with the first one in our other car.
Setup and installation was very easy. Sound quality has been excellent except for the "voice dialing feature". The built-in female voice responding with "SAY A COMMAND" is not very clear and cuts off in the middle of the last syllable so I sometimes hope it is dialing the right person. When I prompt with "CALL HOME", its response is "DID YOU SAY CALL HOm. . ." and trails off. [5/21/10-Editing my comment - just now discovered the female voice I described above is the lady inside my BlackBerry - So this problem may be with my phone, not the T215. Duhhh.]
The other minor issue is the visor clip - if your visor is thick, it tends to pop the wire out of the plastic groove in the surface of the unit holding the clip in. I will probably try to bend the wire without breaking it to relieve some of the pressure.
Until something better comes along, I expect to buy one of these for each of our family cars as it makes usage in the car much safer and is not as annoying or distracting as having a pretentious bluetooth thingy stuck in my ear.

(More customer reviews)Saw the reviews here - many are just plain incorrect, very likely they did not bother to read the manual, which as the quickstart guide says 'the full version is online at jabra'.
A few examples:
Voice dialing: If your phone has this capability - you can voice dial no problem: Record the voiceprint for a number (via your phones feature), preferably while using the speakerphone so its better matched, then to use it 'press' - hold button for approx 1sec - (as opposed to tap, which is means 'quick click") the main answer button then say name - works fine, even with an old moto razr phone.
Power: Again, RTM - to save power (a great feature), the speakerphone sleeps after 10 minutes: To wake up, rather than cycle the less handy power switch, simply tap the main answer button
Bright lights: There is a way to go into night mode: "Press FM and volume up button simultaneously when the speakerphone is on. The light will then turn off. You can turn the lights back on with another press."
C'mon folks, take the two minutes to read the actual manual.
As for the rest - I've only had it a little while - the voice quality seems fine, the FM works great when the convertible top is down (Not often right now, even in CA) and the thing works quite well so far.
Bonus: The charger comes in two pieces so that you can use the USB to micro USB cable with your computer to charge it if you want. Conversely, I can now charge my old razr with by plugging in my USB to mini USB into its lighter adapter. Handy.

(More customer reviews)This is my first bluetooth phone product and I am quite pleased. It was quick and easy to set up and there are only a few buttons (they are large) so it's very easy to use while driving without being distracted.
You clip this to your visor and once it's turned on, it should sync with your phone (assuming you've done the initial phone setup). To answer a call, you press the big button in the middle (disconnect the call the same way). There is also a handy volume control wheel. It was pretty clear for me as well as the people on the other end of the line. I've talked to many people with bluetooth speaker phones in their cars and almost always I will hear the echo of my own voice (annoying)...this does not do that, clear as a bell! You can also do voice dialing to make it even more hands free.
It uses an internal rechargeable battery and comes with a usb to micro usb cable to do that, as well as a car plug with a usb slot so you can charge on the go. An added bonus is that the plug can also be used to charge any other usb device in your car. You can also use this as a small external speaker, I like to use it with my phone's navigation system so that I can listen to music on my car speakers and hear the navigation directions when I need to. Love it!

(More customer reviews)The product worked as advertised. I was able to set it up in seconds for the blue tooth option. since I don't use the FM radio in my van I did not set up the FM transmitter. I can hear other people just fine and I have not heard anyone say they can't hear me or ask me to repeat myself. Only 1 little glitch after a month of using it. It did disconnect and reconnect once but I think i passed someone else using the same frequency which caused it. The price here was 20% cheaper that Best Buy and it was delivered free. I would recommend this product to all of my friends.

Pairing the In-Car Speakerphone with Your Phone
When you turn on your Jabra CRUISER2 for the first time, the in-car speakerphone will automatically start up in pairing mode and begin to tell you what to do next

Only drawback with FM transmitter was wouldn't tune below 88.1, which most units I have used can - which is where all the unused US frequencies are (in other word clear channels so you aren't constantly retuning the channel).
Unfortunately 3 days into using it, the FM transmitter button wouldn't consistently turn the transmitter on or off - which is the reason I bought this unit over others. Returned for refund and am shopping for something else.

Motorola Roadster Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone (Retail Packaging) Review

(More customer reviews)Before getting this I did quite a bit of searching on the web, and couldn't find anything that explains exactly how well this speakerphone works with iPhones. Several other reviews outline its main features, and a few mention that they use it with their iPhones but don't discuss the limitations of that mode, so what follows is intended just for those who hope to use it with an iPhone. (I've got the iPhone 3G, but I can't see any reason it would work differently with the iPhone 3GS or 4).
It's clearly designed for droid phones, and on those phones you can download the MotoSpeak app and have it read texts out loud - and even allows you to compose texts hands free. Still, the basic and most essential functions appear to work with any Bluetooth enabled phone, and certainly with my iPhone 3G.
It hooks easily to the sun visor of the car, and the charger plugs into the cigarette lighter. It links easily with the iPhone, once you go into the settings and enable Bluetooth. After it's linked, the Roadster recognizes your phone, and turns itself on automatically, apparently triggered by the sound of an opening or closing car door. Once on, it speaks out loud that it recognizes your phone, and even says the name of the phone it's linked to. It also tells you whether it's fully charged or not.
If you receive a call, it tells you there's an incoming call and if your phone recognizes the caller it tells you who's calling. You can then say either "Answer" or "Ignore" and it will either pick up the call or drop it. You hear the call either through a speaker built in to the Roadster or you can set it up so it transmits directly to your car stereo through an unused FM frequency. The onboard microphone picks up your voice - all you have to do is speak at an ordinary level and it works fine. My wife reported that it sounds just like it does when I'm calling her directly through the iPhone.
Pressing the call icon on the Roadster will redial your most recent call. Another feature built in to it is that you're supposed to be able to click on the dial tone button and speak a phone number - but when I press that button the Roadster tells me that the feature is unsupported by my phone. It strikes me a bit odd that the Roadster can control my iPhone enough to dial the most recent call, but not to dial a different number, but that's the way it is.
You can also play music from your phone through the Roadster - it sounds awful if you try to do it through the speaker on the Roadster, but when you've got it on the FM transmitting mode, and assuming you've got it set on a clear station the music sounds pretty decent, about as good as you'd get it from a decent but not perfect signal on a regular FM station. In my case I hook the iPhone directly to my stereo with a USB cable, so I wouldn't ever bother with this.
So what this is really useful for on my iPhone is answering calls hands free - and in my case that's the main thing I wanted it for so it works pretty well for me. If you want to make phone calls a lot while driving, or want to receive and send text with voice commands, you'll need a different kind of phone, with Android 2.2 or higher. Having said that, those features would make this an excellent device for owners of Android phones; the more basic features still make it quite useful for iPhone users like me.
