But it does what it's supposed to do. As a clarification of an earlier post by another user, I note that the device does remember which mp3 file you were on the last time you started your car; it just doesn't remember where you were in that file, so it starts the file over again.

Griffin RocketFM / FM Transmitter for Mac and PC Computers Review

(More customer reviews)Works out of the box. It draws power from the USB port and definitely gives a stronger signal when connected to a powered USB hub than an unpowered one.
The included software is very easy to use on a Mac and lets you set the broadcast frequency in increments of 0.1 MHz, which is useful if you live in an area with lots of radio stations, as I do. However, the signal strength is pretty low, so you're relying on your receiver to achieve adequate discrimination between bands.
In my area, I had to go to an in-between frequency (.4MHz) from the regular stations to cut down on interference. My two big receivers (Sony & Panasonic) can handle this. My boombox picks it up, but gets lots of interference from the neighbouring stations. My portable radio doesn't get anything. I did appreciate the fact that the frequency is selectable anywhere in the standard FM range. Something like the Line X USB FM Transmitter with four selectable frequencies would not stand a chance in my crowded area.
Placement of the unit is very critical. Reception will vary widely when moving the transmitter around (and presumably the same for the receiver). If you have the patience to tweak it, it gives good to very good reception.
It is also very important to set the computer output volume to avoid distorting the sound.
Bottom line:
It's good enough to pipe iTunes to my receiver in the living room, but I probably won't take it traveling. Not bad for $30.
I might try to take it apart and either attach a bigger antenna or try to boost the signal. Alternatively, the C Crane FM transmitter would be an option that already has instructions for boosting the signal (but doesn't use USB).

The holder doesn't actually hold the Iphone in place- it continuously falls out every turn, any slight bump etc. I thought about wrapping a rubber band around it to keep it in place but then my husband discovered when trying that yesterday that it has issues with clarity using the FM transmitter anyway- tons of static and or fuzz. I don't recommend this item.

(More customer reviews)I have been buying one cassette adapter after another (yes, I am doing my part to revive our economy), and I have been frustrated again and again. With the Monster iCarPlay Cassette Adapter 800 I have finally found a cassette adapter that doesn't rattle as the spokes turn in my vehicle's player; however, I have found a cassette adapter that instead provides a low hum. It sounds like an impedance mismatch or grounding problem but I am not a big expert on audio problems so I cannot say for sure. Most of the time, the music covers the hum (just as it did the rattles) but I hear it when there is low or no music. (It actually helps to remind me the adapter is still in and the player on, as did the rattle, of course, but that is not ideal.)
For others with music quality problems, I would ask if you have turned down the volume on your player to prevent overdriving the cassette heads. This is a basic step for me, but I am not sure if it is common knowledge for everyone.
Love that the rattle is gone.
Hate that there is a low hum (as I am easily bothered by certain noises, as if you couldn't guess).
Like the shorter cord (as my iPhone/iPod sit close to the cassette player and the longer cords of other adapters get all tangled).
Like the black color with a touch of red (aesthetics).
Still searching for the perfect adapter.

It does not allow you to play your music by inserting a SD card or a USB flash drive. It does not display shows song titles, artist, album and genre and ID3 date tags. And, it does not include controls for random/shuffle mode, last song played and last song memory, either. I can only assume that your own MP3 players does all this already !!!!!!!!
What it does do (at a far better price) is allow you to plug your own MP3 player, CD player and/or DVD players into it's audio input to wirelessly hear high-quality music through your car's FM radio. And it does it very well. What else can you ask for or what else do you need ??????

(More customer reviews)This is probably the best FM Transmitter that I have ever used. I was leary to purchase it for such an inexpensive price, but it was fully legit.
My only issue with the product is in the frequency selection. The device will scan all stations and select the 3 best. However, sometimes these stations end in even numbers...ie: 93.2 or 93.4. My radio only does odd...ie: 93.3 or 93.5. Obviously this is not the devices fault, but I wish I could tell it to only select odd stations.

(More customer reviews)I don't have an I-pod, but I do have a Sony MP3 player, and there is a stereo input jack on this that works great with my little player. There is also a USB charger plug on the bottom that allows me to plug my MP3 player in and keep it charged for long road trips.
Since this is based on FM broadcasting technology, it stands to reason that you will have to adjust it as you move across the country. I usually turn this unit off first, and then find a frequency on my radio that has a couple of empty slots on either side of it to ensure the least amount of interference. Once I have found a frequency, I just power the unit back up and adjust it to that frequency. Works like a charm.
My only wish with this product is that it would power itself back on everytime I start my car, and that it would come in black instead of white. It really stands out when you look in the window.

The transmitting range for the F8Z179 is roughly 1 & 1/2 feet, I attempted 50 non broadcasting stations with listening to static more than music. Five minutes after I plugged it in the display for the stations only displayed half of the digits. I will never buy a Belkin product again! Oh but It does work if you are holding the transmitter and not moving in a vehicle...Barely.

The roadtrip is powerful in the sense that it blocks out whatever radio signal you have on and you can play your music, the mmr-60 is very weak and for it to do the job you have find a good spot in your car and somehow keep it there, but still the sound quality is pretty bad. This device I wanted it for my car and it did not do well, it does the job at home so that is why I kept 2 stars.

(More customer reviews)I bought this 3 months ago and I plugged my GPS, my FM transmitter, and my Ipods charger in all at the same time. I was sketchy on getting this because everyone said it blew a fuse but that never happened with me. Maybe you just can't have too many things using power. Your lighter outlet is only made for a certain amount of watts. Like an electrical outlet, if you have too many things plugged in, it's going to blow a fuse. So you can't be upset at the product. Cigarette lighters are meant to run small things.
Another plus for me is that it sticks out since the cigarette lighter in my 90 New Yorker is a little pushed back.
UPDATE:
After having it for about a year now it still works fine!

(More customer reviews)this product is even better than i thought! from the description it doesn't say that you can tune to specific stations (not just a list of ones that the device thinks you want to hear) i just hoped for the best when i ordered it. this means that i can use it at the gym to tune to the tvs and hear the sound. as far as i know this is the only product you can connect to an iphone/pod and do this. it does not have the iphone 4 listed as a compatible device but it works with mine. i highly recommend this product.
