(More customer reviews)After much, and I mean MUCH, reviewing of FM transmitters for my Sansa I decided on Eforcity because of the price and features. What I see as a necessity in an FM transmitter is this: First, the ability to choose any station - a must especially if you live in the city so you can choose a station that is not being used. Some of the other more expensive transmitters gave you the option of only choosing 6 frequencies. If they're occupied or even slightly occupied you will not get a very clear signal and your FM transmitter will have to compete with that signal already being broadcast. This model has the ability to search up or down to find a frequency that works best. Second, multiple power sources - This model came with both a car power adapter and will also run on one AAA battery. What I like about this is that I can broadcast my mp3 signal over any digital radio anywhere. This comes in handy at home or when I'm at a friend's house and want them to listen to a cool new song on my mp3 player. It has a pretty decent range also. I tried it at home from about 20 feet away from the radio and had no problems. What's cool about this is that you could have a radio tuned to your frequency in different rooms and walk around your house and hear your music from your mp3 player. Yeah, I know I'm getting off track. Anyway, it's a great find at a great price. I didn't have any problems with Eforcity either. It took about a week and a half to ship however. But worth the wait.

The volume on the player has to be maxed out, and then the volume on the car receiver has to be at least 50% to hear it good. You cannot skip many tracks at a time (only 1 at a time), which is very annoying since I have at least 250 songs on the device. The remote has to be aimed at the transmitter to work. The player does resume where you left off. It's not perfect, but I haven't seen anything better out there.

For 15 mins the lcd said 'waiting' and finally said ' no device'. I ran inside to check the card and behold nor my pc neither my 2 camera's recognize the SD card. I contacted them right away and after 4 days, they refunded my payment. Duh ! What a nice gesture! I should be happy right? Wrong - I lost precious memories of my little one (pics) not to mention the $ 80 card WTF? Jack Sheng if you read this, you ought to better test a product before pushing it out to consumers. I have taken a better route to resolve this besides posting feedback. The customer support is terrible - One email reply in a day! ridiculous! (More customer reviews)I bought this product for an itouch about a week or two ago. The seller them self is not bad at all. I received the product within one week of ordering it. However, the product isn't all that great. The transmitter doesn't fully connect with the ipod so just the slightest movement pops it out of place causing the transmission to the radio to stop. Every time I go to grab the ipod to change a song or even if it just taps something the transmitter falls out. It doesn't have the secure click attachment that some ipod chargers or even other transmitters have. It was around $11 with the shipping included so for the price I don't really plan on returning it. However, I am going to look for a better quality one.

(More customer reviews)Let me start out by saying that I bought a name-brand similar device from Costco and it was horrible. The car-kit would sporadically disconnect whenever the angle of my iPhone 4 would be altered (i.e. moving it from portrait to landscape). Also, the connector would get stuck to my car and I had to pry with the jaws of life to get it out--to the point where I thought I was going to break something. I ended up returning the $80 device.
When I got this device, I was skeptical because of the low price, no user reviews, and because it was a non-brand model. I have had it for a few days now and it's working great. I have a plastic case for my iPhone 4 but this device can expand its holder arms to accommodate for the case, while still keeping the phone tight and secure. A great feature is a button on the device that automatically expands the arm holders to release your device with ease. There is also rubberized padding where the back of your phone touches, so you should not be concerned about your phone getting scratched up by this car-kit if you do not have a case.
For the price, I was not expecting a good hands-free calling feature...but it has been very good so far. When the volume in your car is not too high, the reception has no static at all most of the time (the sound comes through your cars music speakers).
My one and only problem with this car-kit is that the face of it cannot be rotated clockwise, only down and up. This is not that much of an issue since you can adjust portrait and landscape via the cord between the connector and the holder...not too big of a deal but a full six-axis turn feature is available in other similar devices. But for the price, you can't complain.
All in all, this is a good, solid device...it charges, transmits music from your iPhone and all other mobile devices with a 3.5mm headphone jack to your car stereo, and has hands-free calling. For the price, you can't beat this deal and it comes with a one-year warranty.

(More customer reviews)This product is useless! The transmission is awful. I had a hard time finding any frequencies that were not full of static. When the signal was clear, the music from my IPod Shuffle sounded tinny and far away and it was mono (not stereo). I had to turn the volume on my car radio way up in order to hear it. Then, after just a couple of uses, the sound went completely haywire - sometimes it would only play the instrumental parts (no vocals) or the songs would be very fast and the vocals would sound like "Munchkin" voices. Then the music would sound scrambled.
The package description claims that you can use the buttons on the device to control your music player. It doesn't work.
Aside from the fact that it doesn't do what it should, the device also has power issues. Just jiggling it a tiny bit (like when you push one of the buttons to change frequencies) interrupted its power connection with my car and it would reset to the default frequency, requiring me to re-scroll to get back to the frequency I was using, all the while repeatedly loosing power. I thought the power issues might be my car's power outlet, but it repeated the same problem in all 3 of the outlets in my car.
I also thought all of this might be due to one bad unit. I had purchased two, one for another vehicle. The second one had the same problems. I am going to return both of them.
This is clearly an inferior product. I guess you really do get what you pay for. As cheap as it is, don't waste your time with it.

Aerielle i2i RDS FM Transmitter for iPod Review

(More customer reviews)This one is easier to set up than my Kensington due to the scanning feature. Sounds great. The i2i and the Kensington use the same transmitter technology by Aerielle Technologies, Inc. The Kensington (not the LiquidFM) is one of the best FM transmitter that I have used, so far the i2i has been just as good.
I like the soft touch finish of the unit. It has a smooth matte soft feel but is not actually "soft". I don't have the RDS equipped radio in my car, so I don't know how well that feature works.
Didn't give it 5 stars for two reasons. It's not fully compatible with the 3rd generation ipod. (That is the one that used firewire to charge and sync) It will play through the unit fine, but does not charge the unit. The old Kensington unit will charge and play the 3rd gen. ipod. And the plug fits loosely in european cars like Volkswagens. For some reason the europeans use a slightly larger barrel for their lighter plugs and some plugs fit so loosely that they will fall/pop out. This applies to the i2i and the Kingston too.

(More customer reviews)I bought this to connect my Iphone 3GS to my Toyota 4Runner stock radio. The phone connects via bluetooth and will stream music to the radio as promised. Incoming calls ring through the speakers, and pressing the button on the Satechi mutes the music and answers the call.
I can talk hands free using the built-in microphone, then return to music when the call ends. People at the other end of the call say it sounds like I'm in a "tin box," but that they can understand me. The volume level of phone calls is different from the volume level of music, thus you have to turn up the volume for phone calls, then turn it down again for the music.
The FM transmission is is not perfect, but it works. There is occassional static/interference from power lines, other cars with their own FM transmitters, or signal bleed from local FM stations. This isn't unique to the Satechi, as I have seen the same comments about similar devices from other manufacturers. It is just the compromise you make for a "wireless" solution that works with your existing radio.
I would give this product 3 or 4 stars, except for one thing: The display FLASHES CONSTANTLY when playing music, and it is BRIGHT! This makes it very distracting when driving at night.
Overall the unit works as advertised, and if you only drive during the day I could recommend it. But the bright flashing display makes it unusable at night. If you want a unit you can use at night, I recommend looking at other products.
*** UPDATE 7-20-2009 ***
As mentioned in other reviews, Satechi technical support is very responsive. They proactively contacted me about the flashing light and are trying to work out a solution. I'll update this review again with the results.

After discussing the problem, Satechi recommended their "Soundfly BT" model instead. It is similar to the BT04, with some added features, but most importantly does NOT have a bright flashing display. They graciously offered an exchange, which is in process now. SATECHI SUPPORT GETS 5 STARS, they have really gone out of their way to contact me, work out the issue, and find a way to make me a satisfied customer. I will post a review of the Soundfly BT unit when the exchange is complete.

The problem is that it doesn't work at all unless I hold it in my hand-- not something you want to do while driving! Steer clear of this one and check out other FM transmitters and reviews here on Amazon before you buy. I wish I had.

(More customer reviews)For the money this transmiter is okay if you are listening to music. If you are listening to Podcasts or other spoken recordings it does not work as well. I listen to a lot of sermons and other Christian radio broadcasts downloaded off of Itunes. When listening to a spoken program the there is an iritaing hum or ringing type noise. I am considering buying another transmiter by soundfly from Amazon.
For $10 though this transmiter is not a bad buy especially if you are going to listening primarilly to music.

(More customer reviews)This Cygnett GrooveTrip is the best FM transmitter I've had any experience with. First, you can choose to have it transmit on any FM station and it can hold up to 4 favorite stations in it's reprogrammable memory. Second, it's compatible with any device, just plug it into the headphone jack. Third, it's tiny (maybe an inch wide by two inches long) and lasts for over 10 hours on two AAA batteries. Fourth, it has a good range; it will transmit ten to twenty feet. Fifth, the transition quality is excellent; usually I can't tell the difference between my mp3 player being hooked up directly via line in in my car vs. being transmitted through the radio in my girfriends car.
I am completely satisfied with this purchase for all the reasons stated above.

(More customer reviews)This is a great and useful product, but must be turned to European mode to reach 87.7 - 87.9 since for some reason Griffin thinks that they are not allowed to use these frequencies (they are).
On the FM transmitter box, push the middle button (Function) and then press and hold the "Mode" button (the right one) for approximately 10 seconds. When you let go you will see a menu for "Us" "Eu" "Ja", select the middle button, "Eu". Let the device sit for a few seconds until it goes back to the main screen, then tune your radio and the transmitter to 87.7 - 87.9! Now you can use the device on the frequencies that will rarely give you interference (I have the best luck in St. Louis with 87.7).

(More customer reviews)I just got this a in Nov 2008. I will tell you the three secrets to getting the best results. First, over the years I have purchased a HUGE number of these type devices and they all sucked. Only the iTrip (both the version with the iPod connector and the one with the standard headphone jack) have this secret that makes them the BEST. Secret #1) because these devices are limited in power, make sure the transmitter part is close to the radio. Secret #2) Unless you need stereo, use the LX mode. Secret #3 ... and this is the biggie ... switch to International Mode. Here's how.
Before you buy, go to your car and make sure you can set your radio to 87.9 frequency or lower. If you can, they you can use this UNused setting. No US radio station is allowed to transmit on this frequency. If you can set your car radio to this, then BUY either the product on this page or the other Griffin iTrip (with the standard headphone connector). I have both, and they BOTH use the SAME instructions.
First, plug in the iTrip. You Have two buttons - a larger +/- button and a smaller button that will either have "Select" or "Preset" written on it.
Hold down the smaller button for 10-15 sec. At first the display will flash "2" or some other number. Ignore that. Just keep waiting. Then the display will flash "DX" or "LX". Use the +/- to change to LX (non stereo mode). Press the smaller button and the selection is saved.
Now for International Mode (to get the stations below 88.1).
Hold down the smaller button for 10-15 sec. At first the display will flash "2" or some other number. Ignore that. Just keep waiting. Then the display will flash "DX" or "LX". IGNORE THIS ALSO, JUST KEEP HOLDING DOWN THE SMALL BUTTON. The display will change to "US" Use the +/- to change to INTL mode. Press the smaller button and the selection is saved.
With my iTrip set to LX and INTL I now set both the car and the iTrip to 87.9. I use the iTrip instructions to save this as a preset. I also set one of the buttons on my car radio to the same.
When I use my iPod, the sound is crystal clear, I do NOT need to adjust the car radio to super-high volume. It is perfect. However, iTrip no longer comes with instructions to set to INTL mode, nor could I find these instructions on their website or on the web. So ... print this, get this and you will have a five star experience!
